Fall Tips

  • For outdoor activities suck as hiking, biking, raking leaves or just going to town fairs be sure to dress in layers.  It can be cold in the mornings and warmer in the afternoon.  Dressing in layers will avoid sweating and then cooling which can lead to illness.
  • Stay Hydrated – even though it may be cool outside, your body still loses fluids though your breath as well as the top of the head.  Wearing a cap can help, especially if it is a very sunny dry day.
  • When raking leaves, be sure not to rake only on one side of the body.  Take your time and always rake towards your body to avoid improper body mechanics.
  • When picking up larger objects such as pumpkins be sure to use proper bending techniques such as keeping your back straight and knees bent.  Always carry objects close to your body.
